My debut album, GOLDEN GIRL, is out NOW! My music is available on all streaming platforms, including:

Apple Music

Spotify

Bandcamp

ReverbNation

You can also buy the CD, either through Bandcamp or at various record stores. Check that out!

I started recording the songs on my debut album in late 2021 with fellow musicians and mentors Ryan Smith (of Soul Asylum, The Melismatics, and Ryan And Pony) and Mark Wade (of The Melismatics and The Mood Swings), and with my son, Jack Strand, on drums.

I’m lucky enough to be part of the Singer/Songwriter Songwriting Challenge on Facebook. Thanks to that songwriting community’s songwriting prompts and encouragement, I’ve now written over 100 songs.

I also play guitar and a little keyboard and do some vocals in local bands here in Minneapolis. Performance dates are always on my Find Me page. My band, Dodging Potholes, also has gigs coming up.

Please check out my YouTube channel, Mary Strand Music on Facebook, and Mary Strand Music on Instagram. And for more handy links to where you can find my music, check out my Linktree page.

Act as if you don’t want to be set free
Tell me that it’s not just one more line
Hold me like you’ll never, ever leave me
Act as if you’re mine

I’ve known you in a thousand ways
On stormy nights and sunlit days
And even though we’ve come to this
I think I’d always miss your kiss

Life can be a game of pretend
One I thought might never end
But now when I glance back at you
I see the ghosts we’ve turned into

Act as if you don’t want to be set free
Tell me that it’s not just one more line
Hold me like you’ll never, ever leave me
Act as if you’re mine

You and I, we’ve shared big dreams
Even though we’re two extremes
I have no clue how this can go
You’re not the guy I used to know

But I’m not who I used to be
And time’s our only casualty
I gaze up at the moon above
And ask if we can still find love

I read it in your eyes and that quiver of a smile
Can’t ignore the lies; they’ve been goin’ on a while
It’s not that you’re so wrong or that I’m demanding
Did we hang on too long? Will we crash on landing?

Act as if you don’t want to be set free
Tell me that it’s not just one more line
Hold me like you’ll never, ever leave me
Act as if you’re mine
